As a long-time entrepreneur, one thing I’ve learned is that time is money and money is time. While I much prefer keeping my focus on the passion I have to help others, it’s obvious that I also have to focus on making money so that I can pay the bills. Today I’m sharing 10 easy time management tips for busy entrepreneurs so that you can learn to make the most of your day to day entrepreneurship tasks.
I’ve been working from home since 2006, with the exception of one year that I went back to work outside of the home as an administrative assistant around the year 2015. I started my entrepreneur journey by trying to get into direct sales and while that was rather lucrative, it wasn’t for me in the long haul. I was soon introduced to a virtual assistant career and blogging. To current date, I’m a freelance writer, blogger, and virtual assistant all rolled into one fun package.
10 Easy Time Management Tips For Busy Entrepreneurs
Stay Away From Time Wasters
You know exactly what I mean with this time management tip. Those people who are “interested in hiring you” and spend an hour talking to you, asking questions and all of that jazz only to say “oh, I’ll think about it and get back to you”. These are time wasters and your time as an entrepreneur is worth money. That hour could have been spent doing something that was far more productive, such as a task that someone actually paid you to do. Start setting a limit on how long you’ll set aside per day to talk to prospects. Do not ever talk, message or email with a prospect beyond this timeframe. If someone wants to schedule a consult for a longer time, charge them a fee.

Take Advantage of Technology
There are so many ways to automate bill payments and client payments these days. One of the best time management entrepreneur tips I can lend you is to automate as much of your business as possible. I personally love using Square and PayPal recurring invoices. This feature allows me to bill my regular clients on a regular interval without having to pause my daily work tasks to send out those monthly invoices.

Focus on Your Business
Stop focusing on what other people are doing or are not doing and put your daily entrepreneurship focus back on your own business. Do not allow the Facebook drama, complaining fest deter you from staying on track with your daily money-making habits. We all do business differently and that’s totally acceptable. Who cares how someone else handles their business, let them do it their way. Period.

Make a Schedule
Every night before bed make sure you write down a schedule. This schedule will lay out all of your entrepreneurship tasks that must be completed the next day. Start with the tasks that take the least amount of energy and work yourself up to the harder tasks to increase productivity.

Anticipate Interruptions
As a mom with three kids, well interruptions are inevitable. While the kids are older and should know better, they are homeschooled so there may be times during the day where they need me for something. The best time management tip I’ve used as an entrepreneur is to anticipate interruptions, deal with them swiftly and get back to work.

I am working on avoiding time wasters. When I have a pressing deadline, I keep my phone far from me. I take it upstairs! It is scrolling through my social media feed that takes up too much of my time. Not good for being productive!
This is very timely! I am having a crazy week and these time management tips are very much welcome! Totally agree that we should also start taking advantage of technology. Automation is really the key and it is such a life-saver. I am very thankful for all these apps that are making our life easier.
I feel like being an entrepreneur can be tough, because you can always be spending time on your work. It is good to have time management and not work too much either.
I try my best to work according to a pre-set schedule. However, as much as I try, there will always be some thing that needs my immediate attention. If I could only eliminate those, I’d be happy!
I completely agree about time wasters. On a few occasions, I have agreed to speak to a potential client on the phone. Those phone calls ended up being almost 30 minutes and NO work came as a result of the phone calls.
