Why I Love The Mt Washington Auto Road

Why I Love The Mt Washington Auto Road

There are many moments in my relationship where I feel the butterfly feelings; you know those feelings that usually come during the times of falling in love. I get them quite frequently with my man as we head towards our 11 months of being together. While we are still in the planning stages to live together, we do spend an abundant amount of time together due to working from our computers together, enjoying quality time when the kids go to their dads and enjoying time with the kids when they are here with me. There is so much positive to say about the relationship I am in that it warms my heart as I type this blog post up. Today I want to focus on this past weekend, when we ventured up Mt Washington Auto Road for the first time together.

For starters, the moment was meant to be a surprise and while it was most certainly a surprise, Mike had to constantly say “pay attention to your surroundings” as we ventured closer to the destination he knew about but I was in the dark on.  Eventually I started to see Mt Washington Auto Road signs and realized that he may possibly be having us take this route. Of course, being that I had a wheel bearing going and my brakes didn’t seem so friendly I admittedly was a bit nervous about traveling the Mt Washington Auto Road in my van. I didn’t let the anxiety consume me, I allowed myself to be in trust that Mike knew what he was up to for he never puts me in harm’s way intentionally.

The moment came; we arrived at the toll where he had to pay for us to venture up the Mt Washington Auto Road. I was full of emotions, but mostly I was feeling special. You see, I had a long hard week full of many emotions. There is some personal family things going on with a family member which led me to have a huge change in the dynamics of family life for me. While the situation is now coming to a close with what hopefully is a positive end result, it was a rather challenging and emotionally draining week for me. Mike planned Saturday to be a day of allowing me to relax, recoup and be one with my own thoughts without the outside noise I had dealt with all week.

His mission was a success. In the moment he explained the significance of us traveling up the Mt Washington Auto Road I felt so extremely loved. I had butterflies, tears in my eyes and in this moment I totally was reminded why I have fallen so madly in love with this man. Mike always goes out of his way to do special things for me, he takes well care of me and we work amazingly together from our computers. With that being said, we also are very good about gestures like this particular day of traveling up the Mt Washington Auto Road to ensure we remain one with who we are as individuals.

I couldn’t feel more in love with this man as I did that day, that very moment. I recall us reaching the summit of the Mt Washington Auto Road and watching him walk across the platform to peer out among the mountain tops. In that very moment, I felt so much love for him that a permagrin appeared upon my face. I felt like our relationship was better than ever and that we truly were on top of the world, even though reality is we really were sort of standing on top of the world at an elevation of 6,288 feet.  While some won’t understand what it was about this day that allowed my shoulders to release tension and me to fall in love with him all over again, all that matters is that this moment was special to me.

The trip up the Mt Washington Auto Road allowed us to reconnect, laugh and be who we are together. It was a time to hold hands, smile and have a stranger capture our happiness in photos. This trip is well worth it for anyone looking to escape the everyday reality of life demands. I highly recommend that you take this trip to Mt Washington and travel along the narrow path to the summit of the Mt Washington Auto Road if you ever feel as if life has consumed you and you’ve lost your way. Regardless of where this relationship goes in the future, I will forever remember this special time riding up the Mt Washington Auto Road.

  1. What an awesome little road trip! It sounds like you’ve found a wonderful match, too <3 Sometimes it is so nice to get away, even if for a day, to clear your mind and refocus.

  2. Sounds like a great experience, I’ve always loved roadtrips. I’ll admit, I would have had all kinds up anxiety…kudos for making it!

  3. Sounds like a really cool place to visit! I have never been to New Hampshire, but I would love to go! I have been to 35 states, but none on the very north eastern US. There’s still so much to see and explore!

  4. Congrats on being together for 11 months. Sounds like a great day out. I love it when I do something like this with my husband, it always feels a little bit more special than if I had done it on my own.
