Are you planning on going on a vacation with your little baby or toddler? A lot of people say that you should stop vacationing when you have a baby until they are older, but this is nonsense. You can still go on vacations with babies and toddlers. You just have to make sure you are prepared and that you are taking the right steps to ensure that your dream vacation doesn’t become a complete nightmare.

Sweet Dreams

It is worth thinking about whether your baby will be able to sleep in the hotel or wherever you are staying. It is fair to say that not all hotels offer baby cribs so you shouldn’t expect one to be in your room. You can ring up and ask them, but if you have your heart set on a particular hotel, you might want to think about just bringing your own. If you read a review of one of the best travel cots, the Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light you’ll see that some cribs are perfect for traveling because they are so easy to fold down, carry and yet offer the perfect level of comfort. That’s exactly what you need otherwise your baby might not be too happy with new surroundings.

Health Insurance

You must make sure that you have total coverage for health insurance and medical emergencies if you are traveling abroad with a baby. As all parents know, sometimes things just go wrong, and your baby might develop what you think is a sniffle or a cough. If this happens on holiday, you will want assurance that it’s nothing serious. To get that you will need to see a doctor and unless you want it to cost a fortune, you need to insurance.

Lots Of Sunscreen

Yes, you do need to make sure you are packing plenty of sunscreen, particularly if you are going on holiday to a tropical location. It may surprise you to learn that the sun is actually good for babies. It provides them with a particular vitamin that helps them develop. However, you still need to make sure that you are protecting them from the most powerful rays. Otherwise, you can encounter health issues. You might also want to invest in a large floppy hat too. After all, babies don’t care whether they look fashionable.

Age Appropriate Activities

Finally, you may have your heart set on taking your little one to Disney World for their first birthday or a similar place for kids. But you want to be careful with this idea because most of the rides aren’t actually suitable for little ones. And, even if they can go on the rides, it’s likely that they won’t remember the experience so it can feel like a waste. As such, it is worth planning a holiday around your enjoyment rather than theirs while still ensuring that they are comfortable and happy by packing the right items. You should also ensure that you are choosing accommodation that is family friendly

I hope this advice helps new parents who are thinking about taking their little one on holiday this year.

I always took my little ones on vacation when they were babies. Had to get ’em to see grandma, she doesn’t drive or fly and we live 1200 miles away. 😉

I love all these tips! We travel quite a bit and you hit the nail right on the head. I think the most important thing to remember when it comes to traveling abroad is to have that insurance in place. Without it you could be out a lot of money.
