Being a work at home mom means that more time is spent working when finances get tight or work loads get high. That’s simply a part of the work at home gig. Every person who goes into working from home eventually figures out a routine that works well for them, but when schedules change for kid routines then you must switch things up all over again. While being a work at home mom can take up more time than desired, you still can find free and simple ways to have fun with your kids.
I wanted to be a work at home mom so that I could support my three kids but also have a chance to enjoy special moments together. Adult stuff gets stressful, life gets challenging which means sometimes I get lost in my adult world stress and forget that it’s not that difficult to get in some quality time with my kiddos. Today I thought I would share a few free and simple ways I try to have fun with my kids. You know, to get a little bit of quality time in when there’s a moment to do so.
Free and Simple Ways to Have Fun with Your Kids
Read a book together. I read aloud to my youngest kid every night, sometimes I even have him read a couple of chapters because it’s important for him to read, even though he hates to read most books.
Take a walk through the cemetery. This is something my kids and I have done for years. They know not to walk on any place where someone is buried and we enjoy seeing how old some tombstones are in nearby locations.
Play video games together. I love when the trio asks me to pay Minecraft with them. I am addicted to the game play and it’s fun learning new ways to have fun in this, plus it brings a lot of giggles to the kids as they watch me.
Take funny filter photos together. This one is my favorite because it’s not often my kids let me get a photo of them but put a funny filter on the camera and BOOM I get some memorable photos of us.
There you have it a few free and simple ways to have fun with your kids. It really doesn’t take a whole lot to build that bond with your kids but you must remain consistent and show that you care about things they care about. One thing I have learned so far about motherhood is that my kids love when I take the time to simply listen to them.
As we venture back into the school season, I find myself thinking I didn’t spend nearly enough time with my trio this summer but hopefully the moments we did have for fun were moments that they will hang onto forever.
