During times of high stress, sorrow or anger it’s not easy to stay motivated. Your heart aches and sleep seems like a foreign subject. When we are dealing with high levels of painful emotions that weigh heavy on our heart and mind, it’s easier to succumb to the weight of emotions than it is to find strength. While it may be extremely difficult for you to see the light during these trying times, the light is there, I promise. Underneath the sorrow, stress and anger we all still have a huge heart full of love to give and strength to endure anything.
How to Keep Yourself Motivated
If you are dealing with something that’s weighing heavy on your heart and simply cannot find a way to keep yourself motivated to live life as you had, follow these tips to stand up against the emotions weighing you down so that you can become the best you possible again.
Have a Good Cry Fest
Crying to release all of those heavy emotions weighing on your heart is healthy. I spent years not letting my first born see me cry, like ever. I have found it’s okay to cry in front of your kids, for it’s healthy for them to see how you handle real emotions. Having a good cry fest during times of high sorrow can release so much of that inner weight from your heart and in turn free you to find that inner strength. If you must have a good cry fest and are like me, not one to cry in front of your kids, then take a hot shower and cry in the shower. Hide in your bedroom and cry it out. There are ways to cry without a single person seeing those tears.
Find Reasons to Be Strong
If you are a parent, it would make sense that you focus on your kids. No matter how much life weighs us down and our hearts break, those kids still need you to be strong for them during their childhood. Kids will actually learn a lot from a parent who has gone through a sorrowful time and found a way to keep motivated through those difficult times. When you find reasons to be strong you are actually training yourself to be tougher and in turn you feel pride in yourself for accepting the sorrow but not allowing it to consume you. If you want to keep yourself motivated during sorrowful times, then you must find reasons to be strong. This is easier to do after a good cry fest.
Confide in Friends
Whether you confide in your online circle of friends or your in real life friends, finding people who you can trust to confide in will really help to keep yourself motivated. During times of weakness reach out to friends who won’t sugar coat things, friends who will lovingly say things to build up your inner strength during this time of sorrow. It’s amazing what having a positive circle of friends can do for the soul during trying times. Sure you may feel like you are weak, that you are breaking inside and that life won’t ever go on from this moment, but I promise you that it will. Life always has a way of going on and time heals all wounds. Confide in your friends. Allow their positive but firm messages help you find inner strength.
Do not Look Back
We are not traveling backwards in life, well we are not supposed to. I am sure there are plenty of people you have seen who prefer to dwell on the past and reside there but this doesn’t do you any good when you are trying to keep yourself motivated. Let the past be where it is, cry it out and deal with the pain from this situation so that you can put your head up to move forward. Life was meant to be lived. Sorrowful times are part of living life. Let this difficult time become a lesson in how you learn more about your inner strength, what you are capable of and just how determined of a person you can be. Whatever you do, do not look back, keeping yourself motivated means you look ahead and always live in the current moment.
Whatever has happened in your life recently that has left you feeling sad, please don’t worry. I know that’s easy to say but I have been through and still am going through some emotionally weighing times. I try my best to focus on who I am, what my kids need from me and how I know in my heart of all hearts that I am a strong individual who has risen above any difficult situation. The key is to remain confident that you are worthy and that you are strong, deep within that broken heart is a place of determination to live life beyond what circumstances are tossed at you. Find that determination and run with it. Let your heart heal as you work towards a new normal for yourself and your loved ones.
Chin up, everything truly does happen for a reason, it’s just we don’t see that reason until later on in our life.
