Super Fun Ways to Keep the Kids Occupied at the Weekend

If you are stuck when it comes to the weekend or if you are sick and tired of having the kids run rings around you while you rock yourself in the corner then you’re in luck. Nearly every parent experiences this at some point but it is possible for you to turn things around and have the best weekend ever. Take a look below to get some top ideas.

Some easy ideas on how you can Keep the Kids Occupied This Weekend.

Let’s Get Messy

Kids love to get messy, and this is the case if you have an older child or a toddler. If you want to keep them entertained then there are plenty of playdough recipes out there for you to choose from and you can really have a lot of fun with them as well. When you do make your own playdough, you can easily make it any colour you want and you can even experiment with a huge range of scents as well. This is just one of the many reasons why so many people have more fun making the dough than they do playing with it!

Try Cooking

There are so many very simple recipes out there and a lot of them can be done with kids. If you don’t exactly want them getting things out of the oven then this is completely understandable, so try a no-bake recipe. Some of these can be put in the fridge and they can then be chilled so that the only thing you have to worry about is getting the ingredients for them. There are even a huge range of sandwich fillings available for you to choose from and these can be made up for their school dinners. It doesn’t all have to be about having fun, you can make it practical as well, and kids love to feel the reward from all of their hard work. This is just one of the many reasons why cooking is such a great hobby for everyone who is involved!

Learn how to Cross-stitch

This is a hobby for older kids but it is something to do at the weekend nevertheless. If you want to keep your kids involved in arts and crafts or if you know that they have a passion for it then this is a brilliant way for you to do that and there are some very easy patterns for you to choose from as well. You can buy them very cheap online and one cross-stitch can keep them occupied for weeks on end. If you are not sure how old your child needs to be in order to do a cross-stitch then try and buy one that is for the age of 7 or above, purely because of the sharpness of the needle.

Paper Aeroplanes

You probably remember making aeroplanes when you were a child, and you also probably remember how much fun you had. You don’t need to waste paper when you are making your aeroplane, and it is more than possible for you to use old newspapers as well. You can fly them from your window upstairs or you can even use them in the back garden. It is more than possible for you to make all different kinds and you can see which one is going to fly the furthest. This is a great way for you to inspire some friendly competition and it is something that everyone can get involved in. If you want to try and make the whole thing more fun then consider painting the planes before you fly them.

Dance-off

If your kids have a lot of friends or if you really want to encourage them to hang out with their friends more than you can host a dance-off. This is ideal if the kids already have an interest in dance and it is a great way for you to really make the most out of your weekend. You can even play some music, have a friendly competition and provide plenty of drinks and snacks. When you do this, you’ll soon find that everyone can take part and it is the ideal way for you to liven up an otherwise quiet night!

Try Soft Play

There are so many indoor play centres available and they are becoming more and more popular as time goes on. The best thing about them is that they are fun, affordable and they give you the chance to relax while the kids run off and burn some of that energy. The kids can run riot and you don’t have to deal with any of it! Consider inviting some of their friends over and also consider what type of soft play you want to take them to. For example, some soft play areas have trampolines and other ones have slides and staircases that are made out of foam. Other ones have ball pits and climbing gear in place.

 Get Into a Game

Games are the best way for you to keep the kids quiet and this can be the case for hours on end. Consider seeing if they want to join Final Fantasy 15 or work with them to try and create their account. This game can be easily downloaded and if you want you can even go out and buy a game that they can play with their friends as well. When you do this, you can encourage them to play with other people and you can also encourage them to really devote their time to something productive.

With so many ideas listed here, you really won’t feel as though you are waiting to pass time at the weekend and you would be surprised at how easy it is for you to really make the most out of the time you have. The weekend will be packed full of fun and the kids will be much happier for it as well. You can even get the whole family around to have a really great party so you know that you won’t have any problems at all there.
