It is a horrible feeling to go to bed dreading the next day and waking up dreading the day. Life is a way to short to sit and wish the days away because you don’t like your job. You can either find a positive outlook for each day, dread the day, or try and find a new job and see if that changes things. Regardless of what you decide, try these strategies below and see if it can make your life a little bit happier.

List of Good Things

Here is the thing, work is not all that bad. At the end of the day, there are positive aspects of your job. Sit down and really think of a handful of things that you do like about your job. Do you get to have the weekends off to spend with your family? Does your job pay your bills? Does it have great health insurance benefits? Do you have a co-worker who you have become friends with? All of these are things you can count as a good thing that has come from your job. Only you can make a list that is true to your life. Focus on the positive and good things you take away from your job on those days you are frustrated or struggling.

Seasons Change

Pretty much our whole life consists of seasons. Just because you are in a job that you are unhappy it doesn’t mean that it will last forever. Things might change in a few months and you will fall back in love with your job. Maybe a new job comes along, or raise. You have to tell yourself this is a season of your life, and you can choose to take the positive route in each scenario you face because it won’t last forever.

Stop Talking About Your Problems

Instead of sitting down with friends or family and always complaining about your job, just be quiet and find a healthy outlet. Maybe sit down with a counselor or psychiatrist and find someone who gives you the advice in a positive way. They might have an idea of how to tackle your specific issues to give you tools to walk away not allowing work to affect you negatively.

Enjoy Your Time Off

Make sure that on the times you are not at work, you make the most of it. Help yourself decompress after a long work week and rejuvenate your mind. This is a great way to relax, find peace, and not feel so stressed. When you are less stressed it can help make things that go on not as overwhelming in our minds.

  1. It’s so true. I mean if you can’t change your situation, you’ll have to change your attitude. Life is way too short to be unhappy all the time.

  2. Stop talking about your problems is really a biggie. There is so much power within a person’s tongue. I think being proactive and learning who you are and what types of skills you have naturally will help a person find better career results.

  3. When I struggle with my work, I always take a break and restore my mind and body. Reading a good book or going on a hike are two things that really help me get back on track.
