How do you Make Money Blogging?

Lately, I have been trying to figure out who I am all over again. Going through a completely crazy scenario, that really hasn’t fully ended as each week there’s something new to deal with pertaining to that chapter, I lost myself. I started focusing on “making money” to pay bills, versus doing what just came naturally to me all those years ago when I first step foot into my living room to work at home. In 2006, when I first came home to work as a pregnant mom with a 6-year-old child, I just sat down at my computer and did what I do best – write. I wrote my heart out day in and day out. I learned basic coding skills. I learned about click bank and selling eBooks. I did so many different things, but each “thing” I did: I was passionate about it.
How do you Make Money Blogging?
No, I wasn’t “rich” by any means, but I could support my kiddos and it made me proud. I was confident, independent and it feels amazing. I wanted that lifestyle for anyone else who felt working at home was their passion, but I had no idea how to answer the question, “how do you make money blogging?” I didn’t have a marketing plan and still don’t. I didn’t have a “path to success” laid out, and I still don’t. Right now, I don’t make as much money as I did from blogging as I sold my original brand HappilyBlended.com and now have two blogs that simply put, are on the back burner most days.
Follow your Passion
After everything I just went through and continue to have some loose ends and such to deal with from that, I find myself wondering who I want to be. I followed this path of being focused on someone else’s dreams, which in my opinion were always about “being rich” or making tons of money anyways. That was never my dream. I still don’t have a dream of “being rich”. I just want to do what I love again and make a living doing it.
These days you can find me writing content for other website owners, brands, and bloggers. I offer ghostwriting services where I write content for bloggers; they tweak it, add their own touch to it, a photo or two and then publish it. I sit back and earn a living doing that. While that is fun for me, because I’ve always been passionate about helping others, it isn’t all I enjoy doing. Lately, I find I am just living the motions as if I work outside of the home to earn a paycheck and that’s not why I stepped inside my living room in 2006 to work at home. I wanted to make a living writing about what I’m passionate about.
The world will listen.
The readers will arrive.
They will only listen and arrive though if you’re passionate about the topic. We may be just moms, dads or people behind a computer screen writing the next blog post, but our audience knows when we’ve written something that we’re passionate about or something personal that resonates with them.
The secret to making money blogging is to be passionate, authentic and maintain your true self. The passion creates the income. The income creates the financial stability. The passion and income build your self-esteem.
Oh, and you may want to set up a self-hosted WordPress blog – the steps are simple: buy a domain, purchase a hosting account like Bluehost or NameCheap, get a blog layout aka design set up for your blog, and start writing.
