3 Powerful Ways to Stay Confident During Difficult Times

About a month ago I made a decision to ensure that my children and doggy would have a roof over their head. I had no idea what my next chapter was going to entail, but here I was a single mom after an emotionally abusive relationship alongside a crime being committed against me and left with a home that had horrible memories. The environment in that home was weighing me down, bugging my children and just became a toxic environment, yes even after the fact. The time had come for me to make a difficult decision, to live separately from my children and pug. I never thought that would be a decision I would have to make, but I made the best decision possible given the circumstances.

Fast forward, it’s been about a month and my head is spinning. I am looking to rent, rent to own or purchase a home. I am trying to keep the options open so that I can find a home for my children, my pug and me again quickly. We all miss each other deeply. The children have always had Mama there full time, and now I am barely part-time status. It makes my heart ache as each day passes, but I try to remain confident during these difficult times.

I have to remain confident in the decision I made to help us get to a healthier and happier new chapter. I have to remain confident in the decision to stand firm on finding the right rental or purchase home. I have to find powerful ways to stay confident during these difficult times, no matter what.

Now that I’ve briefly rambled a bit about my personal life, I want to say that the biggest thing that has helped me remain confident during these difficult times is friends and family. There are 3 main things I do to try to redirect my anxiety and negative thinking that creeps in so that I can stay confident during difficult times. Since these 3 simple tools have worked well for me, I wanted to share them with you.

Circle of Friends

My number one powerful way to stay confident during difficult times is to surround yourself with a good circle of friends. I have many online friends, few in real life friends, and lots of family. I’ve been pretty blessed to meet someone new who’s become my BFF and a really special person to me. This person has helped tremendously as a great friend should, without question. I have my Dad, Step-Mama, Mom, children, and long-time friends around me to uplift me when I start doubting myself. The circle of friends I’ve chosen to keep close to me will refuse to let me sink into a state of depression or self-doubt for too long. This is why I say the number one powerful way to stay confident during difficult times is to surround yourself with a positive circle of friends who aren’t afraid to pull you up by your bootstraps and get you moving forward.

Get Ample Sleep

While I admit it’s difficult some nights to sleep, because my mind is wandering and wondering when I’m going to find that home for my children, my pug, and me, I try my best to make sleep a priority. I have a sleep hypnosis app on my smartphone that I play most nights when I lay down to bed. This sleep hypnosis app helps give my mind something to focus on while I drift into slumber. When you’re going through difficult times you have to remember to get ample sleep. When you stop sleeping as much as your body and mind need, you’ll have a harder time redirecting your thoughts to a positive and in turn your friends will start to see your thoughts becoming more negative in nature. If your circle of friends is the right mix, then they won’t allow this to happen for long. Do your best to listen to your friends when they see that you’re not getting enough sleep. Another thing I have to remember is to be grateful for those who don’t mind if you crash at their place while they’re mingling or doing their normal evening stuff. Friends who don’t mind if you sleep when you visit, or even take a nap with you and are simply happy to have you near, are well-worth keeping around.

Embrace It is What It Is

I used to be really confident in knowing that everything that I want to happen in life, does happen. I got broken a bit along the path of my last chapter in life and I’m still rebuilding that woman who was broken down. The awesome thing is that my “it is what it is” mentality has started to come back to the surface. My heart may ache to live apart from my children and my pug, but I know that this transition stage is only going to make us all stronger and more adaptable in life. I know that things could be much, much worse than they are right now. The last powerful way to stay confident during difficult times is to remember that you can only control so much in your life, let go of uncontrollable circumstances and remind yourself that “it is what it is” and everything is going to be alright.

These 3 powerful tips to stay confident during difficult times are rather simple, but isn’t that what life should be? We should realize that life really is simple. Friendships and relationships are really simple. We, as a human race, tend to make our difficult times more complicated than necessary. I’m guilty of making things more complicated than they need to be, but I try my best to use these three powerful ways to stay confident during difficult times to whack myself back to the positive chick I’ve always been.

I would like to see more of us using these three powerful ways to stay confident during difficult times on a regular basis. I am confident using these tips will help inspire you to lift your head up, look to the skies, and remember that you got this!
