There are many ways to have fun with your kids! As a work from home parent since 2006, I admit that having FUN was always a difficult part of the work from home. You’re torn between building the business to support your fam and making time for the kids … but you don’t need a TON of time to have FUN with your kids.

When you’re running a business or working from home, it can be hard not to get consumed by your professional life. Often, Mompreneurs find it tricky to balance their work and family lives, particularly if you’re just starting out and getting your business off the ground.
However, taking a break from work and having fun as a family is beneficial for you, as well as your kids. If you want to make the most of every moment, take a look at the fun things you can do with your kids:
1. Have a Movie Night
Doing fun activities doesn’t have to put a dent in your household budget. A home movie night can be the best time of the week, as you get to snuggle down with the ones you love and watch a great family movie. Put your best PJs on, grab the popcorn, and let the kids choose what to watch.
2. Go on a Nature Walk
Wherever you live, you’ll find somewhere close by to go for a nature walk. From local parks to beaches and mountains, there are endless places to explore. For younger children, create a nature trail and let them tick off everything you see on your travels. As well as having fun, it’s a great way to keep kids active and tire them out!
3. Hire a Photographer
A professional photographer can capture stunning shots of you and your family, so why not treat yourself to something you can treasure forever? A newborn photography experience is a fantastic way to capture those first few days, while a professional shoot before your kids start school or head off to college will allow you to capture those momentous moments. A mix of formal and candid shots will ensure you get a great range of pictures, so explore different options until you find a style that works for you.
4. Learn to Bake
Teaching your kids how to cook or bake is a great life lesson and it’s also one that’s lots of fun. Kids love to spend time in the kitchen and baking cookies or making a cake is a delicious way to experiment with different ingredients. What’s more – you can choose simple recipes that can be prepared quickly for days when you’re short on time.
5. Arrange a Playdate
It’s important for kids to practice their social skills from an early age, so playdates are a good way to keep them entertained and help their development. Furthermore, inviting parents along will give you a chance to socialize too.
Getting the Right Balance
All working parents can find it hard to get the right balance, particularly if you’re running a business or in a high-pressure job. Instead of feeling guilty or being too hard on yourself, find ways to redress the balance when you can. By making day-to-day activities fun and finding simple ways to incorporate entertainment into every day, you can ensure that you’re able to make the most of family time.
I’m struggling to find a good balance between my job and spending time with my son. But I love your ideas! We haven’t tried baking together. I bet he’s gonna love that idea.
It really is a struggle!
So true, we have to find balance and work – while working at home specially these times. Great list!

Thanks for these ideas! I am always looking for new activity ideas for kids!
I wish I could still be able to do these things with my kids. They’re grown ups now. But I have the most wonderful memories.
I try to find some time every day to do something fun with my daughter. Sometimes it’s as simple as playing with Legos, but sometimes we go all out and have a mother-daughter date.
I love all these ideas. We do many of these as well. Movie nights are always a favorite around here.
Great ideas. I always loved movie nights with my parents as a kid. They were rare but exciting when they happened.

I couldn’t agree more with you. I have been a mum for 10 years now so I understand how important it is to do fun things with the kids.
These are all lovely ideas and ones the kids would enjoy. We all love movie nights especially when mummy remembers the popcorn.
These are great ideas and I’ll make sure to do all these every weekends. Thank you!
These are all wonderful ways to spend some quality time with kids. I feel like it is more of a challenge as they get older.
These are great ideas! I love that most of them are low cost or free too. (Hiring a professional photographer is well worth the money in my opinion!)

Perhaps when my kid gets older these will be a good time – but right now, he is only occupied by something for about 3 minutes.
We have 6 years old twin grandchildren and we always try to find fun new ways to keep them happy, healthy, and safe. We do a lot of hiking and back country camping.
I love these ideas. We do movie nights every Friday. They’re a blast and something we always look forward to.
