5 Fun Things to Do with Your Kids

There are many ways to have fun with your kids! As a work from home parent since 2006, I admit that having FUN was always a difficult part of the work from home. You’re torn between building the business to support your fam and making time for the kids … but you don’t need a TON of time to have FUN with your kids.

When you’re running a business or working from home, it can be hard not to get consumed by your professional life. Often, Mompreneurs find it tricky to balance their work and family lives, particularly if you’re just starting out and getting your business off the ground.

However, taking a break from work and having fun as a family is beneficial for you, as well as your kids. If you want to make the most of every moment, take a look at the fun things you can do with your kids:

1. Have a Movie Night

Doing fun activities doesn’t have to put a dent in your household budget. A home movie night can be the best time of the week, as you get to snuggle down with the ones you love and watch a great family movie. Put your best PJs on, grab the popcorn, and let the kids choose what to watch.

2. Go on a Nature Walk

Wherever you live, you’ll find somewhere close by to go for a nature walk. From local parks to beaches and mountains, there are endless places to explore. For younger children, create a nature trail and let them tick off everything you see on your travels. As well as having fun, it’s a great way to keep kids active and tire them out!

3. Hire a Photographer

A professional photographer can capture stunning shots of you and your family, so why not treat yourself to something you can treasure forever? A newborn photography experience is a fantastic way to capture those first few days, while a professional shoot before your kids start school or head off to college will allow you to capture those momentous moments. A mix of formal and candid shots will ensure you get a great range of pictures, so explore different options until you find a style that works for you.

4. Learn to Bake

Teaching your kids how to cook or bake is a great life lesson and it’s also one that’s lots of fun. Kids love to spend time in the kitchen and baking cookies or making a cake is a delicious way to experiment with different ingredients. What’s more – you can choose simple recipes that can be prepared quickly for days when you’re short on time.

5. Arrange a Playdate

It’s important for kids to practice their social skills from an early age, so playdates are a good way to keep them entertained and help their development. Furthermore, inviting parents along will give you a chance to socialize too.

Getting the Right Balance

All working parents can find it hard to get the right balance, particularly if you’re running a business or in a high-pressure job. Instead of feeling guilty or being too hard on yourself, find ways to redress the balance when you can. By making day-to-day activities fun and finding simple ways to incorporate entertainment into every day, you can ensure that you’re able to make the most of family time.
