When it comes to dealing with a life that is pushing too many changes at you at once, one must pause to collect their thoughts. Just pause! Shut down your mind and just listen to the sounds around you.

Once you have settled the overthinking mode, it is time to move forward with how I try to recollect myself, and focus on actually getting things done without losing my sanity. If you want to find a simple step by step method to handle life when everything seems to be a priority, then continue reading to hear how you can do it without losing everything you love most in this lifetime.

Write Down the Things

The first thing you need to do is to figure out where you stand and what’s going on with your life right now. What do you have for income, and bills? What is running through your mind right now?

As you write this down or say it out loud to someone you trust, you will eventually see that as you unpack this information that you are actually working through a shadow side of something that is coming up from your inner child years – those years when you were too young to do anything about your situation and had to hide, or become less than or more than to survive.

I recently walked through something that had me feeling so upset, and I ended up going from unpacking that I don’t have steady income or revenue down to the point of realizing that I must make money to feel that I have value in a life with someone. This is silly for there are plenty of ways to feel and be valuable in life.

Example: you can help offset other things in the life – such as doing chores, helping with animals, or just alleviating tasks that help give time to another person. This is just as valuable, if not more valuable, to some people.

Knowing what it is that you are truly feeling and what it is truly about is your first step to awakening or at least part of it, right?! As soon as I realized that my feelings were less about the amount of cash I was pulling to what this was symbolizing. I worked through it, and realized that I just need to know what the goal is in my personal and professional life.

I need to know where things are at – with a relationship, with finances, with business, and with other areas of life before I can feel confident to keep moving forward. Perhaps you can relate to this sentence – that you are feeling so out of control because you have no idea where you are aiming or perhaps you have no idea what is most important to you.

Take some time with a pad of paper or a journal, and write down all of the things that are going through your mind right now. Do not worry if they are scribbles! Trust me, this process is going to be messy from start to finish, but the finish part? The part where you know where you are aiming and what is truly a priority to you, that part, is the most amazing part of the process. It will allow you to move forward.

Now that you know where everything stands, and what the status is, and perhaps the deep emotions associated with your current feelings, learning those inner child wound(s) that are coming up, it is time to work through this stuff!

How can you move forward?

It is time to choose to move forward. You will know where you stand with income or revenue, and learn where you want to go. Maybe you desire to catch up on debt, or you are looking forward to the possibility of a trip this summer, or maybe you simply want to feel better than you feel right now.

Knowing what your end goal or what you want to become is a huge part of this process, and it is what I discuss with my 1:1 coaching students.

Start focusing on one thing at a time. Perhaps you decide that you need to focus on income. Let’s sit down and figure out how much money you have coming in, and where you can add a new gig, or build up one of your streams of revenue. I have 5-7 streams of revenue, but I couldn’t tell you off of the top of my head what they are bringing in, nor which one is my best or highest earning option.

That isn’t good. You need to know what you have coming into your life, and what is going out of your life right now to know how close you are to your end goal, and what adjustments you have to get to where you desire to be.

While this is super generic, and difficult to fine tune in a blog post, trust that you can sit down and look at one thing at a time to move beyond that overthinking and start to feel a sense of calm and confidence within your soul.

Over the years, I have learned that taking on one priority item at a time is all that any human being can do. This means that the years when my income and expenses were in the red – my income was less than my expenses, I had to focus on one thing. Sometimes this meant taking on more writing clients to work all hours of the night to satisfy bills or to get a little bit resolved in the financial department. At one point, I had to get into a job for a year to help get things rolling again.

The key is to be open and adaptable to what you will need to change within yourself, and in the external environment to ensure that you are truly working toward something. Even if you never fully achieve the goal you desire to achieve, you will feel more comfortable working towards SOMETHING.

We all just want to know where we are headed, and while no one knows with 100% certainty where we will end up, we can aim for something that is so important to us that our heart sings and we start to feel a bit more confident in who we are, and what choices we must make to get closer to that end goal.
