In August 2023 we ventured to find a vacation for the family plus two dogs. I started looking at VRBO where we typically rent places to stay, and couldn\’t find much. Then I realized that I had an Airbnb account, so I logged into it and found this Lake Salem House in Vermont.
The trip would be a couple of hours long, but worth it for those views. I knew it would be the perfect place to start recording some video for my upcoming courses, and I wanted in. Thankfully the host, Margaret, gave us a chance with our dogs.
You see, since we typically used VRBO we had no recent reviews on Airbnb with dogs. I had a few chats with Margaret via the messaging system on Airbnb and she approved my request to rent her Lake Salem house. I am forever grateful for the chance she took on my family that day!
This vacation was a much-needed one, and boy did we enjoy our time. This place has lovely views, and so many photos were taken, so I hope that you enjoy the photos I\’m sharing today.

The above are mostly images of the property and the inside areas. This place is so large that I cannot fathom living here full-time. I loved the location and had such a relaxing time. You can hear the geese coming in to nest at night, while you\’re enjoying a campfire down by the water.

You can relax inside reading a book with all of the windows that let in natural light. My favorite!

This house is large!! When you first walk in there is a kitchen and dining room area, plus you have a real dining room space in its own room, with a huge living room area.
Then you can go upstairs off of the living room to two other bedrooms, both having their OWN bathroom. Our youngest son stayed up there, and we stayed in the other room with this huge jacuzzi bathtub in this room. Along with the standup shower beside it.

From there you could go back downstairs and out the door to the back deck, which again was another gorgeous spot to read a book or enjoy some down time.

The dogs loved it out there, they would often just be out there with us soaking up the sunshine and falling asleep for a nap.

Later in the night, you could go down near the water and start a campfire to enjoy some roasted marshmallows and listen to nature.

Now, venture back into the home and go past the main dining room \”room\” and you will find yourself near the garage-like spot, and some stairs that go up to the loft bedroom.

This is where our other son slept and it was so weird to have him sleeping that far away from us. I don\’t think I\’ve had a home where I\’ve slept that far away from my kids, except this one place I rented where their did sleep upstairs and I had a bedroom downstairs. (which still wasn\’t as far away as the Lake Salem House bedroom was).

The loft bedroom has multiple beds you can sleep in! You can easily house a couple of families in this space because this house does not stop here. You can then go back out of this room, downstairs, and just before the kitchen space you will find a door to a full basement.

That is where another bedroom is and a bathroom. I believe it had a living room, and books to read as well. I have since gone to so many different houses, that I do confuse some of them, but I believe this had a bookshelf with some books and a couch and TV down there.
Then you can go out the door downstairs right to the backyard to go enjoy the lake. They have life jackets upstairs, and they have a padel board there. I didn\’t end up trying it. The water was a little too mucky for me and not the best place for me to try my first time standing to balance on a board.

This house has everything you need to have a fun little vacation with your family in one place. The biggest thing is to read the instructions when you first get here. There are some house rules, and details you should know before you unpack when you get inside of Lake Salem House. They are pretty common sense rules, however, what i call common sense, another person may not.
I do believe you see most of the rules when you\’re booking this space, anyway, but I just want you to know there is a binder there that has helpful details in it so that you can fully enjoy this trip and leave the house the way the cleaners and Margaret hopes that guests to leave it.
This is the Airbnb listing for you to check out, perhaps schedule a visit, and please be respectful. These people open their homes to use to rent. Be kind. Don\’t leave the trash out, put it up at the end of the driveway so that the house cleaners don\’t have to lug it all up there. Be respectful. Be kind. Have fun.
