This annual event called the Quechee Balloon Festival is a magnificent time. Growing up in New Hampshire I had heard of this festival yet never ventured to go. Once we arrived, I can see why I never ventured. If you want to get any decent parking then you really have to arrive super early. We arrived in the evening hours as we wanted to see the hot air balloons lit up versus just spending the daylight hours watching hot air balloons take off. We had to park a bit away from the event with a short walk, but man it was worth it! This is most certainly a great event to attend in Vermont.
Quechee Balloon Festival
Each year the Quechee Balloon Festival is held at The Village Green in Quechee, Vermont. There are food concessions, tethered and non-tethered hot air balloon rides and much to see. Next year this festival will happen on Father’s Day weekend in June of 2018. We were able to attend this 38th annual event this summer.
For now, you can simply enjoy the photography I captured and video from Instagram.
Family Friend Vermont Event
This is the perfect family friendly event and after dark it’s somewhat romantic seated on the grass watching the hot air balloons do a light show in the dark.
The hot air balloons are much larger than I ever anticipated. The field is huge and leaves room for many hot air balloon owners to attend. I particularly loved the hot air balloon that had moons and stars on it, my favorite theme ever.
If you are planning a New England trip next summer, please check out the Quechee Balloon Festival and try to make time to see it over Father’s Day weekend in June 2018.

I would so go to this festival! Looks like a ton of fun! Great for the entire family too ?
We used to have one when I lived in Michigan. It was always one of my favorite things to go see!
I’ve always wanted to go to a balloon festival. I guess my fear of heights has always talked me out of it. My little guy would enjoy it from a distance, I’m sure.
It would be awesome to make it to this festival. I didn’t know it was so huge! Seeing some of the balloons at night would be nice.
That would be so much fun! I have never been that close to hot air balloons. There’s something magical about seeing the world from a different vantage. Hope to be in one one day.
This looks like such a fun event! I can hardly believe it but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a hot air balloon up close. It must be pretty cool!
My toddler son loves balloons. He would surely enjoy seeing the Quechee Balloon Festival if we ever got out to New Hampshire at the right time!
