Healthy teeth are not a given. If you want to maintain an attractive smile, and more importantly, ensure that your oral health is as good as can be, there are a few things that you will need to do…
Get the right dental treatment
If you want to maintain a healthy mouth, it goes without saying that you need to see your dentist regularly and get any treatments they recommend. Whether it is a hygiene appointment to remove plaque from your teeth or dental implants to improve the structure of your mouth and prevent tooth loss, dow hat your dentist tells you and your mouth will always be much healthier than it would if you neglect dental appointments and advice.
Always brush your teeth
If you want to maintain healthy teeth then you cannot afford to skip brushing even once. As a minimum, you should be brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once in the evenings (twice is better). Fail to do so and you could end up with cavities or gum disease that will ravage your mouth.
Brush your tongue too
Plaque and other bacteria can collect on your tongue just as easily as they do on your teeth, so when you are brushing, make sure you brush or scrape your tongue too. Leave nowhere for germs to hide.
Use fluoride
when brushing if you want to maintain healthy teeth, then you really should be using a fluoride toothpaste. Why? Because fluoride kills the germs that cause tooth decay. It would be foolish not to add it to your brushing routine.
Drink lots of water
Drinking more water is a good way to feel better and maintain healthy teeth. The more water your drink, the better you are able to flush away bacteria and debris that could otherwise cause cavities and tooth decay. It’s like a bath for your teeth, so drink up after every meal.
Eat more veggies
Crunchy veggies, like peppers, carrots and celery are really good for maintaining a healthy body, and even better for your teeth. Why? Because when you chew them, you produce lots of saliva which neutralizes acids in your mouth and helps you to maintain an optimum PH level for tooth health. Not only that, but they also contain lots of important nutrients for tooth health too!
Chew gum
Chewing sugar-free gum is also a good way to balance the PH of your mouth because you will also produce a lot of saliva when you do so. If you cannot brush your teeth between meals because you are on the go, having some gum with you is a good alternative until you can get to your toothbrush for this very reason.
Healthy teeth are well looked after teeth, so be sure to take care of yours if you want to keep that beautiful smile of yours and stay as healthy as you can be. As you can see, it is not too hard to achieve good oral health!
