3 Ways to Slow Your Mind Down

I’d Settle for a Slow Down

Looking for ways to slow down life for a bit? Well, you can’t slow down life, but you can use these 3 tips to overcome anxiety every day.

The mind is such an amazing thing. Your thoughts can truly make or break your day. As someone who suffers from anxiety, there are days where my mind can play tricks on me. When I’m overtired, the kids are cranky, or life simply doesn’t seem to be satisfying or passionate to me, my thoughts run wild. After spending quite a bit of time living apart from my children, I thought I’d come back into the mom life swinging. The reality is that I’m struggling. I try to remain positive. There are some awesome goals for the future in the works, but I still struggle with keeping my thoughts straight.

All I can think of is that I’d settle for a slow down. Reality is that life doesn’t slow down for anyone. No matter how you feel, no matter if your mind is racing, no matter what you feel you need, trying to wish for a slow down in life isn’t realistic. That’s why I do my best to follow these three steps to bring life back to my soul and settle those running thoughts in my mind.

Remember You’re Worthy

Whenever your mind is telling you that people don’t like you or that your life isn’t going as planned, remember that you’re worthy. Look in the mirror every morning and tell yourself that today is going to be an awesome day. Tell yourself that you matter and that people do care about you. Let go of the self-doubt by simply telling yourself some positive affirmations.

Set Daily Goals

While we do have some long term goals that we’re working towards in this household, I also have to set some daily goals. These daily goals include controlling my thoughts to remind myself that life will go on no matter how other people feel or treat me. Life will go on whether I lie in bed all day or do something productive. Daily goals keep me from slinking away and letting winter blues take me down.

Open Up to Others

Lastly, you must talk about your feelings. Granted, someone without anxiety isn’t going to comprehend why you have the thoughts that you do, but if they truly love and care about you then they’ll do their best to motivate you and remind you that you’re awesome. Sometimes simply talking about your thoughts with someone who cares will help you see the reality in your life versus the anxious thoughts.

While these 3 ways to slow your mind down may not work for everyone, I have enjoyed using them to help me make it through each day. With so many things crashing down at once in the last few years, it’s not easy to maintain a positive mindset. I do firmly believe in the power of our thoughts though, and that’s the number one reason I have to keep moving forward. I keep setting daily goals to have a focus and mission in life. I hope that you’re able to use these 3 ways to slow your mind down today and every day going forward.

All I desire is to live a simple life with good people who gather around to celebrate each other’s successes. With good people on your side and the ability to slow your mind down, you can’t lose!
