Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours

Over the summer, my other half & I opted to have one date day per week. This was usually on a Saturday, and I’ve noticed since we stopped doing this that we feel a little disconnected at times. You see, a weekly date day or date night – regardless of how you do it- is a time for couples to just be with each other.

We enjoyed going on multiple cruises this year in the local New Hampshire area, and can’t wait to do more next year. This one was not our favorite, but I had my firstborn dig into the topic to share more about Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours, as it was one of our beloved date days here in Sunapee, NH & I think others would enjoy this trip as a day date, too!

Nestled in New Hampshire is the lovely town of Sunapee, where there are tons of unique experiences to be had on the lake including scenic tours, many shops and restaurants, a New Hampshire State Park beach for swimming, walking, and relaxing in the sun, and so much else. Lake Sunapee has been offering much to its community and tourists for years, and the Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours are a great example of something new to try for locals or travelers. Let’s talk about these tours!

Sunapee Cruises

The company that runs these Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours is Sunapee Cruises, which is owned by locals that also own and operate multiple other businesses in the area. They have multiple boats in their fleet for use in the tour, dinner cruise, and for charter. While the family continues to grow and work hard for providing a great experience to individuals visiting Lake Sunapee, the business is staying afloat well.

Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours

Travel to Sunapee Harbor to board for a narrated boat tour on Lake Sunapee that includes unique information about the history and stories that Lake Sunapee has to offer including three historic lighthouses. Tickets for this tour cost $27 for adults with $2 off for military, AAA, and seniors over 62. Children under 5 are free and ages 6-12 are $14 per ticket. This cruise lasts for an hour and a half, so it’s a great middle ground of length that would suit most ages and attention spans.

Every scenic tour begins at 2 pm, rain or shine, and the ship has indoor and outdoor deck space to enjoy the narrated cruise no matter the weather. You likely want to wear layered clothes to prepare for the temperature difference on the water. You can purchase tickets online or in person for these cruises, but if you want a guaranteed seat it’s likely better to reserve tickets online. The address for this is best used as 1 Lake Avenue, Sunapee NH, 03782.

Bag lunches can be brought on board, and the ships are handicap accessible as well. You cannot bring coolers on these trips and if you don’t bring a bag lunch there are places to purchase water, soda, or snacks which is perfect for families with little ones that may get thirsty or hungry. Depending on weather and availability the boat you’re on for the Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours may differ and sometimes the trip for the day may be canceled and rescheduled.

Dinner Cruise

Besides the well-loved Sunapee Scenic Tour offering from Sunapee Cruises, there is also a dinner cruise option you can attend as well. The pricing for this trip includes dinner and dessert, and the trip will last 2 hours with narration on the history of Lake Sunapee during your trip as well. They depart later at night to ensure the best dinner atmosphere and that you can see beautiful sunsets on the lake while out on this cruise.

A dinner cruise through Sunapee Cruises costs $57.99 per adult and $42.99 per child, with additional NH food tax of 8.5% and added cost for beverages. The menu for this dinner is listed on the Sunapee Cruises website which you can see when you book tickets for this trip, as tickets often sell out so you’ll have to buy them online in advance to ensure you can make it to one of these. It can be a fun family trip, a romantic couples night, or a great solo trip!

Charters

Sunapee Cruises also offers a handful of differing charters that you can learn more about through their website, which are much more pricey since you’re chartering the boat for a trip. This can be great for weddings, parties, gatherings, business trips, and more depending on your needs. Anything you host that has a bunch of people attending could be great to host through a chartered cruise!

Whether you’ve been around Lake Sunapee before or not, the Lake Sunapee Scenic Tours are a great outing for individuals, couples, or families to be on the water learning or experiencing something new. It’s an excellent way to destress from the hustle and bustle of life and pause for a moment.

You can also swing by Sunapee Beach afterwards or check out the offerings of local restaurants like Salt Hill Pub and more. And for anybody looking to stay longer, there are many lodging options around Lake Sunapee that you could check out. It’s a win-win!
