One Week Eating Whole30 Compliant

These are all my personal experiences, a journal so to speak of my life starting this method to reset my own body, it’s not a recommendation nor can I tell you what’s best for your body. I highly suggest you discuss your unique situation with a real-life doctor, holistic medicine person, or a nutritionist to gather up the unique details that are YOUR body to find a program and plan that works best for who you are.

I share these thoughts and experiences in hopes it will do what my reading and watching videos online did, it made me understand what my next step should be, after reviewing my own health situation.

A random person, be a doctor or not, on the internet does not KNOW YOU specifically and that’s what helps make sure you get success in not only getting a healthy mind & body but removing the fat around your organs while building the right muscle for maximum health and longevity in life.

Listen up, my friends! I happened upon this Whole30 “diet” thing and was wondering what it was all about. I am not a person for fad diets, you won’t catch me hopping on any fad diet to lose weight. My mission is always focused on the HEALTH of the mind and body.

I believe that we must treat our human body well so that our spirit can do the job it’s here to do. This means getting up to get active, moving in ways you don’t typically move (such as using my left hand for tasks instead of my dominant right hand daily), pausing all thoughts for 15 minutes per day (meditation), being kind by spreading joy wherever you go (acts of kindness), and other such simple tasks that may be difficult to get into the habit of but are generally “simple” in concept.

I’ve always been pretty much in the thought pattern of this, but admittedly, I wasn’t practicing it all as much as I should have been. I got into a relationship and that’s hard, the ego is tough on relationships.

I dated, married, divorced, dated some more and here I am back with the person I married & divorced and I think they call this living on the other side of “survival mode” so I have time to start focusing on the areas that are important to me as a person and important to me as a wife, mom, sister, daughter, etc.

Thank, God, I am in this healthy spot in my mind so that I can start recognizing more patterns I have in relationships, and friendships in this life. I’m able to recognize these patterns that are mostly ego-driven because I don’t live in a high-stress environment. I am not saying we don’t have stressors, I am saying I don’t have another adult pressing me to be something I am or begging for my attention in unhealthy ways.

So, anyway, in the spiritual journey I am on, I wanted to learn more about food and how that impacts our mind, body, and overall health. While I know you can find all the things online and many people contradict the other.

I can find someone who will say that vegetarian is the way to go or vegan is the option 100% or others who say the carnivore diet is the thing, or maybe you’re following a “doctor” who says keto is the way to go. I mean the list goes on and on and on.

I swear, having such resources at our fingertips, surely can make us confused or ignorant, or both.

I am not Team Group Think.

I am not someone who hops on to a GROUP THINK mentality. Never really have been that way, hence why I’ve rarely had a huge group of friends. I tend to think outside of the box, I am creative, and I am skeptical of things that “everyone is doing”.

I mean, didn’t you hear that saying “If everyone jumps off the bridge, will you?” That whole point in my childhood generation anyway, was to prove the point that we shouldn’t do what everyone else is doing just because they’re doing it. PAUSE and take time to listen to your unique body and your mental needs.

We are all human beings, but each of our bodies is slightly different needing a unique blend of activity, mind games, and food. Not mind games that others play with our heads, but mind games that keep our brains sharp as we age. 🥳

Ok ok. So why am I doing Whole30 if I am not “group think”?

Because, while Whole30 may have a whole brand behind it and everything, it’s not something I am doing to be like anyone else. I honestly haven’t talked to anyone on this food plan. And, it’s not a diet. They actually got their Whole30 branding off of the list of diets (I guess there’s some national list of diets, who da thunk).

They are a reset or a detox one could call it. You’re not to eat grains, dairy, soy, and some other things oh sugar or added sugars are a no-no! You also can’t drink alcohol or sugary things, etc.

Essentially this food plan enticed me because my family had already started going closer to organic, Non-GMO, all-natural fewer processed foods and started to remove fake sugars and so forth from our food intake but we needed a little shove.

I’m concerned for my partner’s health mostly, and so I was excited that he said he’d give this a try! After all, he is the one still drinking Gatorade, sugar in his coffee, and other things. We both were still having a bad creamer in our coffee. And I had switched to Stevia instead of sugar, but I just wanted to get closer to natural.

Whole30 Fit the Bill for my Eating Goals in This Chapter of Life

As some of you may know, I quit smoking cigarettes oh gosh, in 2021. I stopped drinking alcohol for 3 months before that to ensure I didn’t have the “trigger” of wanting a cigarette with a beer.

I went back to drinking alcohol periodically once the “coast was clear” and I felt that alcohol wouldn’t be a trigger for me to smoke.

BUT, then one night I drink too much mimosa that came in a bottle and I was hungover the next day. I kept craving alcohol and then sugar. I was tired of these cravings, and I knew it was a combination of my mind & body not being aligned. So I needed another diet change.

Whole30 was the best thing I found online. It wasn’t to lose weight, although I can benefit from another 80lbs or so to get to my “ideal weight” and I could still lift weights or workout on the program. I wasn’t going to be removing much of anything that I wasn’t already looking to remove, yeah I am looking at you all the added sugars in EVERYthing and soy in so many things (no thank you).

How was week 1 on Whole30?

It was pretty good. I didn’t mind it, as I had already made a lot of the dietary changes beforehand. But other family members had a little struggle, like going to black coffee because it has lots of sugar and cream in it 😉

What’s my favorite workout while on Whole30 for 30 days?

As I’ve been sharing my wellness group over on FB (join today) I have been enjoying two different programs on YouTube. I will link them both below, actually, I will embed my two favorites. One from each YT person. These are mostly walking workouts, and while yes I am in my 40s, I do love the Fabulous50s workouts 🤩

There you have, my friends, I’m enjoying the process of swapping out some of the JUNK so that I can have my creative mind back, a feeling of inner peace again, and perhaps some major energy come Spring and Summer seasons for our hiking and motorhome adventures. 😁
