The Importance of Fitness and Wellness Today

With more and more people working remotely, staying at home, and wearing masks it’s more important than ever to place a priority on fitness and wellness. Human beings aren’t built to withstand the challenges of loneliness. As a species, we thrive on human connection and virtual connections just don’t fit the bill.

While many of you are staying at home for respectable reasons, and the choice is entirely up to you, the fact is human beings need to have some sort of activity that stimulates their mind and body. This is what brings me to the topic of the importance of fitness and wellness today. I understand getting sick isn’t something anyone desires, but neglecting your physical and mental wellness isn’t the solution.

Here in New Hampshire, we’re not as restricted in our daily lives as other states in America, but we’re still with some common-sense expectations. This means that many people have opted to stay home and work remotely whenever possible while others have embraced recommendations to wear a mask and remain socially distant from others.

Regardless of how you’re currently living and what type of restrictions or guidelines you’re life involves, getting up and being active is so important for your overall wellbeing. Here in New Hampshire, we have some safer at home guidelines that include local New Hampshire gyms. You can click here to read more about the current recommendations for New Hampshire gyms.

Essentially people are going to need to have their temperatures taken, masks worn, and remain socially distant from others. These are the basic requirements that most of us have grown accustomed to, whether we like it or not. The reason I’m sharing all of this is that I’m watching so many human beings sit at home, get lonely, depressed, and overeat instead of hitting the gym like they may have done a year ago.

While my heart goes out to those who want to remain safer at home, the reality is that you’re not going to be 100% healthier at home. I started this article by sharing how human beings need connections, and going to the gym is a fabulous way to prioritize your need for socializing and physical activity.

With the many guidelines in place, most gyms in New Hampshire are relatively safe. Of course, as with everything in life, there are always risks involved, so you’ll need to weigh those risks. Let me try to share why fitness and wellness are important and why I feel you should put a visit to a local New Hampshire gym on your weekly to-do list.

What is physical fitness and wellness?

Let’s chat a bit about what physical fitness and wellness are. Physical fitness refers to completing a physical task. Physical tasks can include a daily walk, workout at the gym, or anything that gets your heart pumping as you move your body. Wellness pertains more to the balance of physical and mental health in your life.

Each person needs a certain level of physical activity in their daily life alongside healthy eating habits, and activities that increase their mood for better mental health. This is why I feel a trip to the gym is the solution for most of you out there. Going to your local New Hampshire gym will provide you with a little boost of happiness as you use physical activity to gain the overall wellness you need to live a longer life.

Improves Your Health

Physical activity plays a key role in keeping your body healthy. Placing a priority on fitness will improve your heart health, reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes,  and reduce your risk of some cancers. Heading to the gym regularly will keep your weight at a healthy level that reduces the risks of many illnesses, as it helps boost your immunity and strength.

Saves Money

Evaluate the cost of a gym membership with the future health issues you might have if you sit at home, overeat, and never leave the house. I’m willing to bet that the small fee associated with a gym membership will be much lower than having to deal with a variety of unhealthy physical conditions that arrive when humans aren’t getting enough fitness into their life.

Reduce Risks of Injury

Maintaining a regular schedule of physical activity, proper nutrition, and brain-stimulating exercises help reduce the risk of injury. Fitness and wellness go hand in hand to reduce obesity. Obese people have a higher chance of falling, getting heart disease, and developing type 2 diabetes. Thus my reasoning for saying fitness and wellness will help reduce your risk of future injuries and illness.

In conclusion, we live in a time where a new normal is being pushed upon us but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some of your old routines in place. You can make educated decisions to practice good hygiene and take precautions when heading out of your home, while still allowing fitness to be a priority in your life. You must think proactively about your health and future to determine the appropriate risks that are worth taking.

If you feel that your health is fading and that you’re gaining weight during the last half a year or more, then it’s time to remember how important fitness and wellness are in your life. I invite you to review all of the guidelines for New Hampshire gym locations and make a decision that feels right for your future health and wellness such as visiting this Concord, NH gym.
