If you’d asked me my opinion about online grocery shopping with delivery to your home even just a couple of months ago, I’d say that it’s a great option for people who otherwise cannot leave their home, drive, or have issues going into stores. That was old me, the new me realizes that we are a family of five with one vehicle.
The one vehicle is in need of some good winter tires and the snow season is just about here. The new me says that there are many benefits of online grocery shopping and I’m going to tell you why my mind has been changed.
Social Anxiety Sucks
My anxiety is at a pretty high level lately. I’ve been trying to push through it but with the shorter daylight hours, colder weather, and even some snowy days it just seems anxiety is here. When my anxiety is at a higher level it’s more difficult for me to go into a store, be around people, or really do anything.
When you have social anxiety, or as I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, there are simply some moments in your life when it cripples you. People who aren’t around me often, or don’t know the real symptoms of anxiety do not understand this side of me. I seem outgoing, happy, and friendly, but I do have this crippling disorder that can get the best of me.
This is part of the reason why I’m now on board with the idea of online grocery shopping. Having groceries is a necessary part of raising kids. The trio wouldn’t be too happy if Mama didn’t buy groceries. This is my job, and today my job was too hard to even fathom getting done. That’s why I decided to give Instacart a try!

What are the benefits of online grocery shopping?
Save on Gas Costs
Let’s face it, driving to the grocery store costs money. Depending on how far you need to drive to get to a decent grocery store you’re using gas and increasing the wear and tear on your vehicle. Online grocery shopping saves on gas costs and other issues that arrive with transportation.
Save Time in Your Day
I work from home, this means every minute counts when it comes to making money and getting clients’ work done. I’ve been behind on work for a bit now, being homeless will do that to you. That’s why I love that one of the benefits of online grocery shopping is that it saves time in your day.
Stay Organized and On Task
If you go grocery shopping hungry then you buy more food. If you’re running up and down aisles at your local grocery store then you end up buying more items than necessary. Having someone delivery from an online grocery shopping delivery service keeps you organized and reduces the risk of overspending.
Avoid Crowds
This is a big one for me, I hate crowds. While I do have days where I need to socialize, for the most part, my anxiety is something that keeps me at home. I’m perfectly content being home with my family getting things done and having quality time with them. Crowds make me nervous, especially during cold & flu season, so I love that you can use online grocery shopping to avoid catching sickies in those large crowds.
In conclusion, online grocery shopping is the perfect way to get the food you need and want without having to deal with large crowds, people in general, and overspending. I was able to get our fresh produce, hot sausages for dinner, rolls, milk, toilet paper and other necessities with just a few clicks from our local Price Chopper without leaving the home.
If you haven’t tried an online grocery shopping option yet, but love the idea of experiencing the benefits I shared today then I highly recommend you give Instacart a try. It’s so worth the time to browse the grocery store online and select your items all from the comfort and safety of your home.

I haven’t tried online grocery shopping. We do have a grocery store two blocks away from home so that would be the reason why I don’t shop for groceries online. I would try this service maybe if I am too busy with tasks or in the summer when the weather is too hot to walk to the grocery.
I love online grocery shopping. Since I work at home and seldom go out, this is such a savior. Very helpful too during bad weather or when I am sick. Happy to know more places of this service already.
I tried online grocery shopping a few times and loved the convenience. The only thing is I noticed the prices are higher.
I have only done it a few times but its so helpful! My only issue is I like to pick my produce
