Smitty\’s Cinema Godzilla x Kong and More

Another family fun day was an adventure to watch Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire! Since the only theater that was playing this film in our area during a time we could watch it was Smitty\’s; we ended up in Tilton, NH at Smitty\’s Cinema.

Smitty\’s Cinema has a couple of locations for you to enjoy dinner and a movie. Be sure to check their website for more details. The Tilton, NH location is my go-to location. I\’ve been here a few times in the past, however, their new additions of an arcade, bar, and axe throwing were fun to witness during this visit.

The youngest teen enjoys the Godzilla films, so we had to go see the new one in theaters! This was a fun adventure day because we got to have dinner and a movie in one place. Not only that, but when we arrived, I noticed that Smitty\’s Cinema in Tilton, NH has a bar, arcade, and axe throwing area for you to enjoy.

I was pretty excited about that. The newness of this facility had me feeling old. The theater tickets can be purchased at the main movie ticket booth, but you choose your seating based on this TV screen thing. Where you can see which options are open and which are taken, that\’s pretty neat, but had me so confused as to the orientation of seating.

I knew, from having been here many times before, that I wanted to sit in the area that had tables in front of you, rather than the setup as shown in the image below. While those seats below are comfortable, having to turn to watch the film always becomes a hassle for me, so I prefer the upper-level seating.

We most certainly over-ordered our food during this trip! We had 3 appetizers; pretzels with a delicious sauce, mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce, and nachos. Plus we each had a meal.

We could have just had the plate of nachos, to be honest, but the other treats were a nice splurge.

\"\"

I didn\’t much care for my meal or the pretzels, but that could be mostly from my not having a large diet of bread for the past few years.

\"\"

In the past, I\’ve enjoyed these types of treats and meals. I ordered the Margherita Pizza flatbread and found it was too soft for my texture preference. I had hoped for a crispy \”crust\” texture, but I hadn\’t had a flatbread before. This means it was a new learning experience for little ole Me.

\"\"

Just so you know, this cinema restaurant does have a gluten-free menu that you can grab after buying your movie tickets! That\’s a wonderful option for people like me who would generally prefer to grab that menu but didn\’t on this particular day.

The overall experience of the dinner and a movie here is always a favorite of mine. I had a blast, but remember to take it easy on appetizers if you don\’t want a $100 food bill. The ticket prizes for the film were lower than I had expected, but we still spent a good couple hundred dollars on this trip between the extra food, movie, and arcades.

With proper planning, you could do this trip for less than $200. It was our first outing since being cooped up in the New Hampshire winter season and we planned for this type of expenditure.

How was the Smitty\’s Cimena Tilton, NH Arcades?

While we didn\’t do the axe throwing today, I will be headed there with the middle teen (almost adult) to check out the axe throwing on a weekly day that he has off (I HOPE). For now, let\’s chat about the arcade area.

When you first walk into the cinema, you won\’t be able to miss all of the lights and fun that is the arcade here in Tilton, NH. This arcade is different from the Funspot NH arcade in that you have to get a little card and everything is electronic here.

\"\"

You need to use the machine to get a little card, after putting funds on the card. You can choose how much to put on the card, and this card will track tokens earned.

\"\"

We had a learning experience with the tokens part and were disappointed (at least I was) that I couldn\’t get tickets in hand. It took me a minute to realize that they were putting the earned tickets onto the card. I miss the in-hand tickets to be honest, as that is more nostalgic for me.

\"\"

They do have a variety of games here, and again this doesn\’t compare to places that are 100% for arcades. With that being said, it is a cool way to get the kids out for some fun. I noticed a lot of the little kid\’s games were here, so be sure to bring the little ones to enjoy a day out without spending a fortune.

We only spent so much because we did the full experience of dinner, a movie, and then an arcade. Plus, we ordered more food than necessary to begin with. The menu itself has some good budget-friendly options with good portion sizes that the whole family can enjoy. For example; the one plate of nachos would have been fine for four people to share.

\"\"

The final spot to visit before leaving Smitty\’s Cinema Arcade in Tilton, NH was the prize counter, where I got a little chuckle out of the worker when I was asking about where the tickets were. I asked, \”Are the tickets on this card thing because I am so used to having tickets in hand after they come out of the machines.\” and I goofily expressed my disdain for said electronic conversion.

\"\"

The prizes here are lame, to say the least, but hey, it\’s always a fun experience to \’win something\’, am I right? The prizes are higher tickets than Funspot and again, I don\’t want to complain or make this place sound awful, for it was a fun experience overall.

I honestly feel that younger kids would have more of a blast here at the arcade part. I am 40-something and the kid is 15 plus.

The dinner and movie though at Smitty\’s Cinema is going to always be my FAVE spot that\’s close enough to home. It\’s about an hour\’s drive for me.

\"\"

I know that we all ranked this location about a 7, as seen below in our family ranking, but that doesn\’t mean a family with younger kids would rank it the same. If I had to tell a family about this spot, I would highly recommend the movie and a meal plus the axe throwing area, then the bar for those who drink alcohol during social outings.

I will visit the axe throwing in the future to share more, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter (form is below this blog post) for the latest blog post updates and goodies in the future.

Is Smitty\’s Cinema Tilton, NH Handicap & Pet Friendly?

Based on my research it appears that this location is handicap accessible. Please call the location before going just to confirm. I didn\’t see anything about being pet friendly, so I guess that NH state law regarding disability assistance pets applies, but otherwise, leave Fido at home, please.

Just call to confirm this information before driving here. The map below will get you their phone number quickly.
